North Dakota, Minnesota Grain Groups to Merge
USAgNet - 07/16/2018

Members of Reynolds United Co-op and Halstad Elevator Company will merge into one entity at the beginning of 2019.

Reynolds United Co-op CEO/General Manager Paul Coppin says both cooperatives are in strong financial condition, but there will be an opportunity for greater efficiency.

"We have some common patrons and we both own a part of Alton Grain so it is a natural combination," said Coppin.

The new organization will operate as Valley United Co-op with a trade area that covers a large portion of the central Red River Valley.

Coppin will lead the new organization. Robin Stene from Halstad Elevator Company will serve as chief operating officer.

Reynolds United Co-op is a farmer-owned co-op located in the middle of the fertile Red River Valley of the North. It handles wheat, corn, and soybeans, (edible beans in Buxton only). It operates facilities in Buxton, Hatton, Mayville, Portland and Reynolds

Halstad Elevator Company is headquartered in Halstad, Minn., and operates facilities in Grandin and Hillsboro, N D., and Ada, Minn.
