Fall Temps to Cool in the East, Warm in the West

Fall is expected to begin with warmer-than-average temperatures in the eastern portion of the U.S., but a cooler trend might develop later in the season. At the same time, the west could see the opposite as the odds of above-average temperatures increase in
much of region by late fall.
The Weather Channel reports that the September through November fall period as a whole is forecast to have temperatures near or slightly below average in the Midwest and Great Lakes, while most other areas see near- or above-average temperatures,
according to the latest outlook by the Weather Company. But that three-month outlook doesn't fully illustrate some interesting changes when we examine the fall forecast on a month-by-month basis.
Fall is expected to begin with above-average temperatures dominating the East Coast in September. This would be the second consecutive warmer than average September in the East. A year ago, the Northeast and Southeast regions had their third hottest
September on record.
The best chance for a cooler-than-average start to fall is in parts of the northern and central Rockies as well as the adjacent Plains.
