Pennsylvanians Unsure How Rain will Affect Apple Storage

Pennsylvania had a fair week for field activities with an average of 4 days suitable for field work. Temperatures were reported with a high of 92F, a low of 37F and a state average temperature of 68F.

Peach harvest is nearly complete. Apple harvest continues with more varieties being harvested as time goes on. Quality affected due to excessive rainfall causing diseases and the added concern is how the apples are going to keep in storage.

Little tillage or planting was done for small grains as fields are still pretty saturated.

Field activities for the week were mainly cutting corn silage, spreading manure and planting cover crops and small grains.

A few fields of hay are being baled and wrapped.
