Weather Holds Back Pennsylvania Planting Progress
Pennsylvania Ag Connection - 05/24/2016

Pennsylvania had a fair week for field activities with an average of 3.5 days suitable for field work. Temperatures were reported with a high of 77F, a low of 26F and a state average temperature of 52F. Light rains continued for the early portion of the week, abating briefly on Thursday and Friday, only to resume in earnest again over the weekend, particularly on Saturday.

The continued rainy weather has delayed corn and soybean plantings and the lingering cold temperatures have had a noticeably negative impact on fruit conditions.

Field activities, when weather permitted, were largely focused on catch-up planting corn and soybeans in addition to fungicide spraying.
