Celebrity Chef Makes Real Good Food
Pennsylvania Ag Connection - 01/14/2019
The 103rd Pennsylvania Farm show welcomed celebrity chef Ellie Krieger to the PA Preferred Culinary Connection Stage. Krieger is the host of "Healthy Appetite with Ellie Krieger" on Food Network and "Ellie's Real Good Food" on PBS. She is also the author of You Have it Made: Delicious, Healthy Do Ahead Meals.
Krieger made two recipes with the crowd, first demonstrating mini frittatas with leeks and asparagus followed by mini turkey meatloaves. Both unique muffins tin recipes come from her book, You Have it Made: Delicious, Healthy Do Ahead Meals.
When a young audience member asked, "How can you cook so fast?" Krieger smiled and said, "it just takes practice." Krieger also mentioned that red peppers have three times as much vitamin C as orange peppers. She encouraged people to cook creatively and use ice cream scoopers to dip the frittatas and meatloaf into the muffin tins.
Krieger was assisted on stage by Pennsylvania College of Technology students Amaris Smith and Claudia Walling.
Samples of the dishes were prepared behind stage and handed out post show by the Pennsylvania College of Technology students and Chef Mike Ditchfield.
