Pennsylvania Peach Harvest Ahead of Schedule

Pennsylvania had a good week for field activities with an average of 5.5 days suitable for field work. Temperatures were reported with a high of 86F, a low of 43F and a state average temperature of 67.3F.

A fair week for field activities with some heavy rains reported over select parts of Pennsylvania. .

Peach harvest is ahead of schedule by nearly a week. Quality is excellent and yields are better than average in some varieties. Apples are doing. A large majority of crops reached maturity and ready for harvesting. For the most part, fruit and vegetables are doing okay.

Corn and soybeans continue to. Double-cropped soybeans are finally growing and getting some height.

Hay continues to be made when conditions permit. Some producers are preparing for cover crops to be planted.

Some areas of the state reported heavy rains putting a damper on field activities. Main activities for the week included cutting alfalfa, haymaking, bailing straw and spraying.
