Pennsylvania Crops Continue to Lag
Pennsylvania Ag Connection - 08/14/2018

Pennsylvania had a fair week for field activities with an average of 4 days suitable for field work. Temperatures were reported with a high of 96F, a low of 50o (F) and a state average temperature of 75F.

Sporadic heavy rains and humid conditions lingered across the state providing varied opportunities for field work depending on location. Despite some reports of dry weather, wet conditions prevailed throughout Pennsylvania plaguing corn, soybeans and hay particularly in fields where standing water is present.

Apple and peach condition continues to decline due to excessive moisture as well.

Overall, crop progress continues to lag behind previous years as a result of wet weather hampering field activities which were largely limited to clipping pasture, spreading manure and machine maintenance.
